Contractor Stephen Jenkins and designer Kristin Norris – are obsessed with creating better spaces – spaces that are more beautiful, more comfortable, that work better not harder, that flow more seamlessly, that connect to the outside. We believe in collaboration – with each other, with our clients, and with local makers, crafts, and trades people to reimagine spaces both small and large.

Stephen’s been the contractor-owner of SJ design | build for the last 15 years. Before starting SJDB, Stephen was a restaurant co-creator and co-owner. Building the restaurant and renovating his own homes were the impetus for founding SJDB’s. He thrives on rehabilitating outdated houses back into beautiful, inviting homes and rescuing the craft of the past by meshing it with the benefits of the present.

Kristin joined Stephen as a design partner in 2019, after running her own design consulting business for 5 years. Before focusing exclusively on design, she was the long-term chief creative officer of Anthropologie and founder of BHLDN. She thrives on combining needs and wants into spaces that are current without being trendy, that are comfortable without lacking form, and that marry utility and beauty.
